The ABC’s of Diabetes
Diabetes can be a devastating disease if not treated properly, but if treated properly, there is no reason why one cannot live a full and happy life. You would be amazed at the number of public figures, whose names you would immediately recognize, that are diabetics. These people are living out their dreams and achieving their goals in spite of having diabetes. They are sports figures, actors, actresses, dignitaries and others, who have not allowed diabetes to stand in their way.
There are a few “keys” to controlling diabetes. One of the keys is changing your diet and this key may actually be encouraging to you. Eating several little meals all day long helps to keep your blood sugar levels stable, so eating every couple of hours is a good thing. In fact, you may find that you feel all you do all day is eat! And here is more good news, if what you are eating is correct for you, you will lose weight, which is another of the “keys” to controlling diabetes. Imagine, eating every couple of hours, losing weight and lowering your blood sugar. Wow! You’ll take it, right? Oh yeah, and perhaps get off that medication or keep yourself from ever having to take it in the first place. And finally, there is exercise. This is another “key” to success in controlling diabetes.
