Candida Albicans at Your Doorstep

You get a yeast infection, you go to the doctor do get something to help relieve the burning, the itching and the sometimes painful swelling. They give you a topical that helps relieve the worse symptoms but really does nothing for the underlying cause of the infection. You symptoms may end up going away for now, but you know that shortly, they will be back.

If you really want to cure your yeast infection, you are going to have to get to the very root of the problem and find out what you are truly facing when you are getting a recurring yeast infection. Understanding what candida albicans is and how you get it is the first big step in finding a permanent cure. Let us take a look.

Candida albicans is a mostly harmless yeast fungus that lives in the wet warm places on our body such as women’s genital areas. Most people have at least a few Candida Albicans fungi hanging around their bodies, but not everyone experiences an outbreak. That is because these fungi are opportunistic organisms that wait until there is a breakdown in their hosts systems before they began to multiply and cause an infection.

Here are some causes that lead to a full blown Yeast Infection

1. A weakened immune system

When our immune system is weak from lack of sleep, illness or stress, a Yeast infection is more likely to happen. Yeast Fungi like Candida Albicans always seems to know when your immune levels are at their lowest and then strikes before your body can do anything to stop it.

2. Hormonal changes

Women who are experiencing a hormonal shift are also more likely to get Yeast Infections. This includes pregnancy, which is a notorious time for Yeast infections to crop up and menstruation, which can lead to a weakened immune state allowing the fungus to take root and spread.

3. Antibiotics

The antibiotics you are taking for a bacterial infection might also wipe out certain good bacteria that our living in your urinary tract and keeping the yeast at bay. This will allow for a yeast infection to spread with ease. Some women will experience this when they take certain antibiotics, other women will get it no matter which antibiotic they happen to be on.

4. Diabetes

Onset of diabetes can lead to yeast infections. Yeast cells feed off of the extra glucose that women with diabetes have allowing it to multiply and turn into an infection.

Other causes of yeast infection include:

  • Tight fitting clothing that doesn’t breathe properly allowing for a warmer, wetter environment down there.
  • Hot and muggy Weather for pretty much the same reason as above.
  • An allergic reaction could also stress the body and allow the yeast to take control
  • A poor diet could weaken your immune system and allow yeast populations to grow unchecked. Certain foods like yogurt also help keep the levels of good bacteria up and the Yeast at bay.
  • HIV is also known to cause yeast infections

Also, yeast infections are not just a problem that women sometimes face. Men, the elderly and even babies can all get it on certain parts of their body when their immune systems are in a weakened state.
