Lifestyles…?

There is alot in the media these days about giving up smoking, it is big business. There are haunting tv advertisements, books being written and now that it has been banned in pubs it seems the only thing to do is to give in and give up. I have been a heavy smoker for many years now and being told it’s time to give up…the thought of which horrifies me. When working what would you break for, if not a cigarette? How much meaning would life have? People talk of the quality of life. What would be the point in weekends, holidays or days off? To carry on without the woodbine, feels pretty grim to me. The stress of giving up, of coping without this release would clog up my arteries as much, if not more, than the ciggys I’ve been puffing on for 30 years. We all know how much damage stress can do and my theory is that smoking relieves this to a large degree. To a point where the pro and cons balance out. Perhaps my life will be shorter, but at least it’ll be a damn site more enjoyable. I say if you smoke in privacy and don’t damage anyone else’s health then you can’t knock it.

I’ve just joined a forum www.weareshedmen.com where i can question my sanity and maybe this will help me give up and i can live a ‘normal’ life by venting on there or on my blog and get it all out… (more…)
